Understanding Comprehensive Mental Health Treatment
When it comes to providing effective treatment for a mental health disorder, it must be viewed from a holistic, or whole person, perspective. This means that treatment is not just about medicating the symptoms, but to improve all aspects of the person’s functioning.
Because our mental, physical, and spiritual realms are all intertwined, all must be addressed when delivering comprehensive treatment. This means that an effective treatment plan will consider evidence-based therapies, holistic methods, experiential activities, nutrition and exercise. This is called an integrated treatment plan.
